What is an Inbreeding Coefficient?
An inbreeding coefficient gives a probably of how genetically similar individuals are to one another. A higher percentage means that the animals are more closely related.
What is an estimated breeding value ?
How desirable an animals genes are , as estimated from the phenotype.
Each animal is given a score of breeding value for a particular trait.
Estimated breed values are published by the relevant organisations for a range of factors and species.
What is ment by the term Selection Differential ?
The difference between the average population and the average of the animals selected to breed.
Define Selection Intensity
The superiority of the breeding animals characteristics compared to the rest of the population.
It looks at how consistent the selection differential is within the animals selected to breed.
What is ment by the term Selection Response?
The genetic gain between generations (how much the population is considered to be improved)
