What is severe combined immunodeficiency ?

A

A condition which occurs in humans, dogs, mice and Arabian horses. It is an autosomal recessive disease (both parents must pass on a copy of the recessive gene for offspring to have the disease).

The animal has a malfunctioning immune system leading to death within a few months.

An autosomal recessive blood clotting disorder that can occur in humans and dogs. It leads to difficulty controlling bleeding after injury.

A

A condition which occurs in cattle where a male and female twin develop simultaneously. The foetuses share the placenta where hormones from both mix. The female may be infertile and show characteristics of a male reproductive system and have cells with XY chromosomes.
