Q

Expectancies tend to be confirmed through two pathways:

A

1) Perceptual confirmation: “we see what we expect to see”
Ex. Someone high in RS will have greater feelings of rejection in ambiguous situations
2) Behavioral confirmation: “we behave in a way that makes our expectations
happen”
Ex. Someone high in RS will tend to behave in ways that elicit rejection from close others
