So the Indians couldn’t punish or judge people from their tribe

A
1877, and divided up most of the Indians remaining land into 160 acres. Some which were given to the Indian families and the rest was given to the White settlers and the Indians had to learn how to farm to keep the 160 acres of land

- they were made to live like White settlers
- they had to obey the U.S. Laws
- feasts, dances, and ceremonies were banned
