Connectivity Flashcards
T/F: quoting the connectivity package will allow you to send to both PCs and EMR
True. The EMR connectivity package contains both DICOM and the ability to integrate directly with the EMR
DICOM can speak HL7 and EMR
True. The DataMediatOr speaks HL7 and EMR
An EMR can always be used in place of a PACS server for an account
False. Some customers will not have an EMR that has storage, therefore will still utilize a PACS system to store their surgical images.
T/F: with the EPIC connectivity package a customer can pull information on from the MPI or MWL pre-op and push information to the BLOB server post op.
True
An EMR can always be used in place of a PACS server for an account
True?
An EMR connectivity package can be used for an EPiC customer who wants to save to PACS instead of the blob server
True
VNA. What is it?
Vendor Neutral Archive.
It operates like a PACS system. It’s the connection between one PACS system and another imaging system. (ie GE and Siemens)
The EMR connectivity package enables customers to send directly to EPiC, Cerner, AGFA and Meditek
False
DICOM needs to be purchased separately and added to the connectivity package.
False
Quoting the EMR connectivity package will give the customer the ability to save to PACS and/or an EMR
True
DICOM is the language translator in which the sdc3 needs to wrap its files to communicate with the rest of the hospital systems
True
DICOM allows my account to save to PACS and/or an EMR as well as DataMediatOR
False. Only PACS, EMR requires EMR connectivity package, DataMediatOr requires HL7 integration
What is MWL?
Modality Work List. A work order (prescription for surgery) is created for surgery similar to the radiology department, which is saved on the MWL, and therefore the SDC3 can pull in patient information from the MWL via DICOM
What are the required steps to pull patient info from the MWL?
The SDC3 must have DICOM software installed. MWL must be selected under the patient information tab as well as the PACS system, and the nurse will be able to select the list and then select the patient.
Why is DICOM important for EMR integration?
Not all EMR’s have storage for case images will still need to be saved back to a PACS system and a link will need to be created by hospital IT to the PACS system so the doc can view all images from one EMR system (computer screen)
PACs systems are common in hospitals for storing images because they are easy to integrate and are low cost options
