Anchors Flashcards
What are the ReelX STT measurements of the anchor?
The anchor measure 4.5 or 5.5mm in body diameter
Proximal end is slightly larger at 6.5mm
Body is designed to expand up to 6.5mm
What material is the anchor made out of?
PEEK with an implant grade stainless steel inner mechanism
What do the laser lines of the inserter shaft indicate?
The proximal end of the first laser line indicates when the anchor is flush w bone
The second line is 5mm above it and is just a reference
Do I need to create a pilot hole in order to insert the anchor?
No. The ReelX STT has a sharp trocar tip, which allows the surgeon to Mallet directly into bone.
Surgeon may elect to use the 6.5mm Zip instrument in hard bone applications.
How many sutures can be loaded into the anchor at one time?
The ReelX STT is designed to accommodate up to two #2 sutures at one time.
When threading the sutures through ReelX STT anchor, do I need to do anything in particular?
Yes. Recommended that a max of 3 inch suture tail is passed through the threader loop.
Is there a specific orientation that needs to be used for anchor implantation?
Yes. Vertical line on the shaft of the inserter should be facing the repair.
Do I need to complete a minimum amount of turns to help ensure the anchor will hold the suture?
A minimum of one complete revolution must be completed.
What is preventing the suture from un I sing once tensioned?
The REELX STT has an inner mechanism that features 6 individual locking points.
How much suture is taken in each turn?
Each revolution of anchor advances about 10mm of suture
What is the maximum amount of turn I can complete?
Three complete revolutions. Also recommended that the proximal handle is rotated no more than 1/2 turn after the excess suture has been spooled into the anchor.
Can the handle of the REELX STT be turned both ways?
No. Counter clockwise
How do I disengage the inserter handle from the anchor?
Make sure the tether is released from the handle, and then pull straight back n
