Internalisation
When we take on the majority view because we accept its correct, occurs even when group is absent
Identification
Where we act the same way with the group because we value it and want to be part of it but don’t always agree with the group.
Compliance
Where we outwardly go along with the majority view but don’t agree with it privately. Only do this because the group are monitoring you
Informational social influence (ISI)
We agree with the opinion of the majority because we believe it’s correct, we accept it because we want to be correct as well
Normative social influence (NSI)
We agree with the opinion of the majority because we want to be accepted, gain social approval and be liked
Conformity
A change in a persons behaviour or opinions as a result of real or imagined pressure
