How conflict can be resolved at a local level?

A

Control - local authority tries to maintain clear, even, sustainable development.
Fair - public consultation, and transparent process so all steps are made clear.
Appeal - opportunity for reapplication, amendments and lodge for an appeal.
Seeks balance - looks at pros and cons.
Process long, time consuming and costly.
Scale depends on number consulted.

Local level

A

Resolved in reference to planning authorities.
Planning officer decides whether to aware planning permission.
If permission refused then applicant can appeal to local planning committee or DEFRA.
Developer may be asked to make modifications or provide additional facilities, hence making proposal more acceptable to public/council.
