what is it?
A
the result of sounds not being able to pass freely to the inner ear

pathophysiology?
A
normally abnormality in the outer or middle ear
ear infections
middle ear fluid (glue ear)
perforated ear drums

how can conductive hearing loss be diagnosed?
A
can be identified on an audiogram as there is a significant air-bone gap (BC within normal limits)
Rinne test - negative
Weber test - sound heard louder on affected side

how does it present?
A
can create fluctuating hearing loss

how is it managed?
A
treat underlying cause
typically correctable by surgery
