- physical: provides information to the parents on topics such as safe sleeping and SIDS, vaccinations, dental hygiene etc. provides support to the parents to allow them to sleep without worrying about their baby too much
- mental and emotional: having a new baby can be stressful for parents, providing information reduces stress and anxiety
- social: organises mothers groups, supports the wellbeing of the mother and allows the child to socialise and build social skills at a young age
