What are the levels of command support
Level 1= ICP with ICofficer no minimum rank
Level 2 dedicated command support
Duties of Command Pump Officer
Identity suitable appliance to be ICP Inform control of ICP call sign Leave blues and lights on ICP Turn off all others if safe Collect NRBs from apps in attendance Place in ICW Enter details on ICW info board Record tactical mode Line drawing of incident Collect NRBs of oncoming resources and inform IC of their availability Pass info onto those coming on Maintain contact between IC and control Continue til relieved by CU staff
What communication facilities are available on the CU
1/ main scheme and fire ground radio
2/ dedicated command channel 2 with mobile repeater for radio weak spots
3/ leaky feeder for sub basements and deep penetration
4/ field telephone and cable for point to point comma
5/ downlink capability to view images from MPS helicopter.
Command Unit supports IC, takes over ICO, ICW and ICP and provides functional support to IC in 4 areas. What are they
1/Operational Support. Give IC info on functionality and capability of CU and crew
2/ communication support. Monitoring radios, drafting and sending messages
3/ logistics support. Provide RVP for on coming resources police LAS etc, prepare relief plans and projected resource needs
4/ Planning support and information management. Record and display info for IC provide pictorial references of incident with resources and strategies e.g. Location of sectors

What incidents are CUs part of the PDA
1/ 4 pumps + 2/ multiple calls to fires in premises 3/ persons reported 4/ confirmed hazmat 5/ cylinders 6/ forward mobilising procedure 7/ major incidents 8/ mass Decon Additional CU to: 6+ pumps
Can the initial CU be returned before the stop has been sent?
NO
IC to liaise with team leader and together they can decide to release the CU
Can the additional CU be returned prior to the stop?
YES after consultation with CU team leader.
e.g.
Make pump six additional CU not required
What dedicated functions might an additional CU be ordered for?
1/ Dedicated conference facility e.g. Silver meeting
2/ media liaison point (away from scene of operations)
3/ dedicated support for Ba main control officer
4/ Dedicated salvage control
etc…
What is SCCS responsible for
Sector Commander Command Support.
Command support team( CU)
And
Functional Sectors
What happens re command support once the incident is under control.
Ensure CPOfficer is nominated
Ensure Command Pump identified
Hand over all relevant info to CPO
CPO to resume using ICW
CU to inform control that CP is in operation and give them the call sing of the CP.
