Cool, heavenly, elegant, sophisticated, trustworthy, relaxing, sadness.
Tints and Shades
Colour + White = Tint
Colour + Black = Shade
Advancing Colours
Warm colours advance.
You notice them first
They can be louder, brighter, energetic and young.
Receding Colours
Cold colours recede.
You notice them second.
They can be quieter, peaceful, less important, calmer, trustworthy and safe.
Harmony
Colours from the same area of the colour wheel.
Calm, secure, together.
Contrast
Colours from opposite sides of the colour wheel.
Energy, attention, vibrant
Choosing Colours
Any colours near each other will work well. A harmonious colour scheme will be created.
Any colours that are opposite will also work well. A contrasting colour scheme will be created.
Any three colours that are equally spaced on the colour wheel work well together.
