Q

What is depth perception?

A

Depth perception is when you can see in three dimensions and also have the ability to judge how far away people or objects are from you. It’s also referred to as stereopsis. Depth perception allows you to accurately guess the distance between you and something (or someone) else.

Q

What is binocular cues?

A

Binocular cues are depth cues that require the use of two eyes. For instance, trying to touch the tip of two pencils together in front of your face may be rather easy to do with both eyes open; however, attempting this task with one eye open is significantly challenging.

Q

What is binocular disparity?

A

the slight difference between the right and left retinal images. When both eyes focus on an object, the different position of the eyes produces a disparity of visual angle, and a slightly different image is received by each retina.

Q

What do you mean by spatial intelligence?

A

Spatial intelligence is the concept of being able to successfully perceive and derive insight from visual data. This cognitive process is known as an aptitude for understanding visual information in the real and abstract word as well as an innate ability to envision information.

Q

What is proprioception>

A

Proprioception (or kinesthesia) is the sense though which we perceive the position and movement of our body, including our sense of equilibrium and balance, senses that depend on the notion of force (Jones, 2000).

Q

Are people allowed to drive a car with one eye?

A

People with monocular vision can legally drive in all 50 states and in the District of Columbia. If you lose vision in one eye as an adult, you may benefit from visual training activities with an occupational therapist. Learning or relearning to drive with monocular vision is possible.

Q

What is eye convergence?

A

Convergence describes the way our eyes move together and point inward when we look at near objects. With CI, the eyes do not point together inward as one looks at objects close-up. CI affects children and adults. It often goes undiagnosed.

Q

What is occlusion?

A

Occlusion is a monocular depth cue produced by partially overlapping objects: Objects that partially block other parts of the scene are perceived to be closer to an observer than the blocked objects.

Q

What is motion parallax?

A

Motion parallax is a type of depth perception cue in which objects that are closer appear to move faster than objects that are further. It’s a type of monocular cue, a depth perception cue that can be perceived through the use of one eye.
