Q

what is the cyanotic spell associated to the teratology of fallot

A

Tet’s spells, also known as hypercyanotic spells, result from hypertrophy of the right ventricle. This leads to a terminal cycle of increasing right-to-left shunting between the ventricles, increased blood flow through the aorta (rather than the pulmonary artery), increasing cyanosis, stimulation of the chemoreceptors and increased heart rate, causing further flow through the aorta and away from the lungs.
