What is OPTIMUM CRUISE ALTITUDE?
the pressure altitude for a given weight, center of gravity, speed, and air temperature that gives the maximum specific range.
Do we fly the optimum altitude?
Many times, it is not possible because of direction of flight or ATC. In addition, the aircraft may not have enough buffet margin to fly at that altitude.
