What are the properties of long bones?
A
Longer than they are wide. Soft centre surrounded by hard outer casing. Used as levers to allow body movement. Eg. Tibia and fibula.

What are the properties of short bones?
A
Approximately same length as width. Large quantities of bone marrow to make blood vessels. Eg. Carpals and tarsals. Weight bearing bones. Shock absorbing.

A
Flat and particularly strong. Muscles attached that provide protection. Eg. Scapula and cranium.
