Prepare pupils for particular role open till recently. Vocational education has been given the low status as it leads to low pay jobs.
Working class people are more likely to be pushed in taking vocational courses such as health and social care, fashion, business etc
as they are more likely to practice and perform the manual jobs in society
Ao3 however, functionalist would argue that they still benefits the economy

Teachers label working class negatively which lead to self-fulfilling prophecy and they’re pushed towards taking easy BTEC Subjects
Teachers label middle-class positively as high achievers and they are pushed towards taking high status subjects like maths and science

This was also sitting streaming I was working class are put into low set based on these labels. This limits their achievement which results in the working class not being able to choose more academic subjects due to low grades.
