CKD Diagnostic Criteria Flashcards
How many samples does a diagnosis of CKD need and how far apart?
2 samples 90 days apart.
What is the equation used to measure eGFR?
Chronic kidney disease epidemiology collaboration (CKD-EPI).
What is the description of G1 CKD?
Normal kidney function but urine findings or structural abnormalities or genetic trait point to kidney disease.
Give the cut offs of GFR for each CKD stage?
G1 - >90 G2 - 60-89 G3a - 45-49 G3b - 30-44 G4 - 15-29 G5 - <15
What are the cut offs for the ACR categories?
A1 - <3
A2 - 3-30
A3 - >30
For how long should you monitor people with an AKI to see if they will progress to CKD?
2-3 years.
What is the criteria for defining accelerated progression of CKD?
- A sustained decrease in GFR of 25% or more and a change in GFR category within 12 months.
OR - A sustained decrease in GFR of 15ml/min/1.7m2 per year.
What are the 2 separate blood pressure targets for people with CKD?
Normal CKD - 140/90
CKD and diabetes (or ACR of 70 or more) - 130/80
What are the blood test findings that would make you want to start a patient on dialysis?
Any of:
- Resistant hyperkalaemia
- eGFR <7ml/min
- Urea >40mmol/l
- Unresponsive metabolic acidosis
What are the symptoms that would make you want to start a patient on dialysis?
Nausea Anorexia Vomiting Profound fatigue Itch Unresponsive fluid overload
