Circumplex Model Flashcards
Family cohesion, one dimension of the Circumplex Model is the emotional bond that family members have toward one another. There are four separate levels: disengaged, separated, connected, and enmeshed.
Flexibility, another dimension of the Circumplex Model, is the amount of change in a family’s leadership, role relationships, and relationship rules. There are also four levels: chaotic, flexible, structured, and rigid.
Communication, the third dimension of the Circumplex Model, focuses on the family’s listening skills, speaking skills, self-disclosure, clarity, respect and regard. There are only two levels: good or poor.
Feedback loops are not a part of Olson’s Circumplex Model.
