circulation deterioiration Flashcards
look; (6)
- capillary refill
- if have catheter, urine output
- blood pressure
- temperature
- haemorrage
- insensible loss ie sweat/ water vapour (if higher resps)
how to do capillary refill.
Press for 5 and should come back in two seconds.
what does it mean if the cap refill is slow?
dehydrated
what does it mean if cap refill is fast?
- sepsis, due to vasodilation.
- fluid overload.
why look for urine output?
as kidneys get 1/4 of the blood so shows good cardia output.
feel; (2)
- pule. Rate. rhythm. (weak/thready or bounding?) and depth.
- clamy.. therefore temperature.
what should the rate of the pulse be and according to who.
51-90 according to royal college of physicians,
what does a weak/ thready pulse mean?
dehydrated?
what does a bounding heart rate mean?
- sepsis
- fluid overload.
what should blood pressure be? systolic and dystolic
111–219 systolic
70-80 dystolic. According to royal college of physicians
whats wrong with NEWS systolic?
dont score unless over 219. but 140 classed as high bp.c
is there a problem with, and what could it mean?
hr= 120
bp=100/70
yes. Systolic lowerr than heart rate. could mean hypovolaemia
what do they need if hypovolaemic?
crystalloids or colloids. (fluids)
what is target temperature?
36.1-38 according to royal college of physicians.
what happens if someone is pyrexic?
heart rate speeds up and then metabolism so therefore needs oxygen, glucose and colloids or crystalloids (fluids)
