circuits Flashcards
the purpose of the pulmonary circuit
to reoxygenate blood
the purpose of the systemic circuit
to provide fresh, oxygenated blood to the body’s cells and remove used, deoxygenated blood
dissolved substances includes
salts glucose hormones proteins waste products
pulmonary circuit
RA to the lungs to the left atrium
main function to reoxygenate blood
what if the pulmonary veins developed a blockage?
capillaries in lungs will rupture causing pulmonary edema
-at first the r ventricular load will increase a little bit, then drastically decrease
systemic circuit
LA to the body to the RA
main function is to adequately perfuse body’s tissues
what impact would athlerosclerosis have on the workload of the left atrium?
it would increase vascular resistance
coronary circuit
from the aortic root to the heart to the RA
cardiomyocytes have an absolute requirement for aerobic ATP production. How is this impacted due to the coronary artery disease?
ATP will decrease due to less blood meanin less o2 influencing the blood pH causing the heart to beat faster increasing heart rate basically killing you faster resulting in heart attack because all the atp is now gone
reguardless of circuit most circulatory routes inclued
arteries to arterioles to capillaries to venuoles to veins
