Where does the English title Chronicles come from?
St. Jerome was commissioned by Pope Damasus to revise the “Old Latin” Bible into the Latin used at the time. This was later called the Vulgate.

As was true of Samuel and the Kings the Septuagint (Greek) was responsible for dividing 1&2 Chronicles

Samuel&Kings had prophetic authorship and prophetic and moral concerns whereas Chronicles had priestly authorship with ministry&spiritual concerns.
Samuel&Kings was more negative with rebellions and tragedy whereas Chronicles was more positive with apostasy but hope in spite of tragedy.
Samuel&Kings had a message of judgement whereas Chronicles had a message of Hope.
