Chronic renal failure Flashcards
What are the signs and symptoms of CRF?
anaemia, brusing, lethargy, HTN, SOBOE, pain on urination, acute pain, decreased urinary output, nausea/vomiting
What is the pathophysiology
systemic disease causes renal injury which leads to loss of nephrons and release of angiotensin B
leads to glomerular capillary hypertension
increase glomerular permeability and filtration
leads to pre-nocturia
increases tubular protein reabsorption
results in in renal scarring and irreversible damage
What are the causes of CRF?
usually caused by long term disease
diabetes
HTN
obesity
smoking
gender - more common in men
age
What are some nursing interventions and rationale for CRF?
maintain adequate nutrition and fluid balance
promote activity and rest as tolerated
provide skin care
provide education on condition
psychological support
to monitor and record about of fluid in and out
activity will help to move fluid around rather than accumulating in peripheries
skin can become dry and fragile due to dehydration
psychological support is important for the patient and will help keep them content.
