What are the signs and symptoms of atelectasis?
A
SOB, increased HR, cough, chest pain, skin and lips turning blue

What are the causes of atelectasis?
A
pressure on the lungs
blockage of the air passage
surgery
supplemental oxygen or inhaled anaesthetic which has had an adverse reaction

What is the pathophysiology of atelectasis?
A
reduced ventilation or blockage
obstruction of air to and from the alveoli
trapped air is absorbed into the bloodstream, blockage prevents further air from entering the alveoli
area of lung becomes airless
lung collapses
respiratory distress
