What is CLL?
Progressive accumulation of a malignant clone of functionally incompetent B cells
What are some symptoms in severe cases?
Wt loss, sweats, anorexia
What is a potential sign?
Enlarged, rubbery, non-tender nodes
What would you see on a blood film?
Small mature lymphocytes, smudge cells
When would you consider drugs?
If patient is symptomatic
What staging system is used and how many stages are there?
Rai stages, 5 stages (0-IV)
What would you see on a FBC?
High WCC with high lymphocytes
What therapies are available?
Chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, targeted therapy
Give an example of a monoclonal antibody
Rituximab
Give an example of a targeted therapy
Bruton kinase inhibitors
