Anaphylaxis is an extreme allergic reaction and life-threatening. Can cause , shock or death
Anaphylaxis has two common signs
Urticaria(hives) and Angioedema
Urticaria (hives)
*small areas itching or burning in multiple spots on skin
Angioedema
*swelling under the skin around the lips and eyes
body responds to internal Or surface agent
Overlook symptoms in anaphylaxis :
GAVN—
Gastro tensional dysfunction,
nausea,
vomiting,
abdominal cramps,
Common allergen:
food
plants -pollen
chemicals
insect bites: envenomation injection
*Venom can be injected through the spin directly to the skin
* Continue to inject venom up to 20 minutes if stinger not removed
medication 30mins to affect

More severe cases of anaphylactic
Respiratory failure and confusion may occur :
ABCCDGHS
Stridor
Bronchospasm
Wheezing
Chest tightness
Coughing
Dyspnea
Anxiety
Gastrointestinal complaints
Hypotension
*Severe allergic reaction provide BLS and transport
*remove stinger by scraping the skin with the edge of sharp object
*DONOT USE tweezers
*Remove jewelry before skin swells
*apply cold or ice below the heart
*Place pt in supine monitor vital signs and give O2 if needed
EPINEPHRINE
*ALPHA BETA1and2
*Elevate the diastolic blood pressure
AUVI-Q
Comes in a third dose of 0.1mg for pt who weigh(17to33lbs)
What blocks the release of histamine
(Benadryl) blocks the release of histamines
