Reproductive system
Ovaries,fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix vagina and breast
Ovaries are two glands located on either side of the uterus
Similar to male testes
Contains thousands follicle and each follicle contains eggs
Average menstral occurs withn 28 days
10-20 follicles process each month
*remaining follicles die and absorb by the body
*Ovulation occurs 2 weeks prior to menstruation
*if the egg is not fertilized within 36-48hrs
The fallopian-tube extends out laterally from the uterus
*when eggs are released it travels through the fullopian tube to the uterus
The uterus is a muscular organ that protects the fetus
Cervix seals the uterine opening
*when the cervix begins to dilate plug discharged into the vagina as pink tinged mucus
The vagina is the outermost cavity
Forms lower part of birth canal
3-5inchs in length
*begin at the cervix end at the external opening of the body
The breast increases insize and tenderness
Mammary glands produce milk
*blood do not mix between the fetus and the pregnant women because the placental barrier consists of two layers
