What is an emergency action plan
A plan that every office should have in place to deal w emergency situations
What is the code aspect of an EAP
Different codes to communite with staff depending on the severity of the condition
What equiptment is needed to support the EAP (5)
- Fully illuminated exits and exit signs
- Clearly posted instructions on exit procedures and emergency protocol
- a written copy in complete form for the entire EAP given to all employees
- Fully stocked and frequently checked first aid kit
- Functional AED
Series of events in emergency at CMCC
if clinician in corridor- summon immediately
-if no clinicians get closest assisting intern
(tell intern there is emergency and get assisting intern to find clinician on way to the phone )
-if AI does not find clinician they should call clinic reception or 911 directly, if calling reception state room number
- request all clinicians be paged
- first clinician on the scene will assume responsibility for the situation
- clinician must perform the emergency examination and complete all clinical notes and incident reports
What does the primary survey entail
(red cross approach)
-Check, call, care occurs during your primary survey
What happens in the Check part of the survey
- check the scene
- check the person (if they don’t respond move to call)
What occurs in the call portion of the survey (for adults + childreN)
if they don’t respond you need to call 911
For adults- call 911 yourself and return to giving care if alone
For children- do 5 cycles of CPR then make a call and return to care
What should u being doing in the Care section
ABCs then CAB
Airways, breathing, circulation
Compressions airways and breath/bleeding
What does CAB stand for
Check for normal breathing
- -for <10sec
- gasping, snorting, gurling is not breathing
Airway
-stabalize the head, push from the back of jaw to open airway
