what is child abuse?
action by another person (adult or child) that causes significant harm to the child

getting it right for every child
4 types of abuse?
physical
neglect
sexual
emotional
physical abuse?
causing bodily harm to any extent
neglect?
failing to meet basic needs to child
sexual abuse?
abuse of child by adult for the adult’s sexual gratification (includes exposing child to pornography etc)
emotional abuse?
usually goes hand in hand with any other type of abuse
includes persistent criticism, denigration, rejection and scapegoating
a relationship issue rather than an event
is induced illness abuse or mental illness?
abuse
who do you speak to if worries about child abuse?
line manager
NHS child protection team advice line
if out of hours then refer to local child protection police and social work
not at work then 999/local child protection line
suspicious fracture in kids?
spiral fractures (kids bones are usually bendy) in odd places (femur etc which would need v high energy)
