Control Chart
Graphic display of process over time and against control limits.
Used to Determine whether or not a process is stable or has predictable performance.

Run Chart
Similar to control chart but without displayed limits.
Used to show history and pattern of variation with data points plotted in order they appear.
Used in Plan Quality, Perform QA, Control Quality
Histogram
A vertical bar chart showing how often events occur.
Used to show frequencies of errors or periodic staffing levels.
Used Perform QA, Control Quality, Plan HR
Resource Histogram
A vertical bar chart showing number of hours per person per period.
Used to identify need for a resource leveling strategy.
Used in Plan HR, Develop Schedule, Control Schedule
Scatter Diagram
Shows relationships between two variables.
Used to identify possible relationships between independent and dependent variables.
Used in Control Quality
Pareto Chart
Histogram sorted by frequencies.
Used to determine the most prevalent errors to focus corrective action.

Flowchart
Graphical representation of a process.
Used to identify and anticipate process problems.

Organization Chart
Graphical representation of organization.
Used to show position relationships and roles and responsibilities.

Bar Chart
Graphical Representation of schedule.
Document project schedule showing activities, start and end dates, and expected durations.
Used in Develop Schedule
Milestone Chart
Graphical Representation of major deliverables and key external interfaces.
Used to show project schedule at high-level for executives.

Responsibility Assignment Matrix
Matrix-based chart showing connections between work packages and team members.
Used to show all activities associated with each person and vice versa.
Uses RACI designation. Used in Plan HR.
Tornado Diagram
A graphical display of a Sensitivity Analysis data which analyzes which variables have the greatest impact on a give contraint in the project.
Ishikawa / Fishbone Diagram
A Cause and Effect Diagram which shows how various factors might be linked to potential problems or effects.
Influence Diagram
Shows the releationship between variables and outcomes.
SWOT Analysis
Analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the organization, and the ways in which they may lead to opportunities and threats.
