chapter two voltameter Flashcards
diff voltameter
it is the divise used to measure the potential difference across two points direct
how can to convert the galvonometer to voltameter
- shfited zero postion to the left on the scale
- A large potential multiplier resistor is connected in series with the coil of the galvanometer
diif tthee multiplier
it is a large resistior is connectted in series with the galvonnmmetter coil tto bee volltameter
the voltametteer is connected in parallel in the electric circuit
to be sure that thee potentiial diffeerence beetween the two pooints iss the ssame like that between the terminls of the voltameter
a large multiiplierr resistior is connecteed in series with the galvanometer coil to be voltameter
- it makes thee volttmeter measure higher potential ddifferance
- it makes the voltmeeter as whholee has veery high resistance to draw negligaple current when it is connected in parallel accross two poiints
the voltmeter should have large resitance
to be sure it will draw negligabllee current whenn it is coonnectedd in parallel acrosss two poointts so it will not affect the intensity of the current passsees through the circuit
prroff the relation of the multtibler resistoer
draw in page 96
V = Vg + Vm
V = Vg + Ig x Rm
Rm = V – Vg \ Ig
by adding multiplier resiatance what will happen to the sensativity of the voltmeter as it will measure ….. current
the sensativty of the voltmmeter decreases as it will meaassure higher resistance
by increeasing the multiplier resiatance what will happen to the sensativity of the voltmeter as it will measure ….. current
the sensativty of the voltmmeter decreases as it will meaassure higher resistance
the maximum potential deifference can be measured by the voltmeter depend on
the value of the multiplierr
