Chapter 9.2 Flashcards
What does an inference engine do?
Seeks information and relations from the knowledge base and provides answers, predictions and suggestions like a human expert
Define backward chaining
The process of starting with a conclusion and working backwards to the supporting fact
Define forward chaining
The process of starting with facts and working forwards to the conclusions
Explain the explanation facility
It allows a user/decision-maker to understand how the expert system arrived at certain conclusions and results
Explain the knowledge acquisition facility
It provides convenient and efficient means of capturing and storing all the components of the knowledge base
It acts as an interface between experts and knowledge base
Define a domain expert
Individual/ group who has the expertise/knowledge one is trying to capture in the system
Define knowledge engineer
An individual who has training/experience in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of an expert system
Define knowledge user
Individual/group who uses and benefits from the expert system
List the expert systems development tools and techniques
-Traditional Programming Languages
-Expert system shells
-Special programming languages for AI applications
What is a virtual reality system
Enables one/more users to move an react in a computer environment
What is an immersive virtual reality
The user becomes fully immersed in an artificial, three-dimensional world that is completely generated by a computer
Mention the various interface devices
-Head Mount display (HMD)
-CAVE = Projects stereo images on walls
-Earphones
-Haptic interface= relays a sense of touch and other sensations in a virtual world
Mentions forms of virtual reality
-immersive virtual reality
-Stereo projection systems
-Telepresence systems
-Mouse controlled navigation through 3 dimensional environment
