Hyphema
Blood collecting in the anterior (front) chamber of the eye
Cauliflower ear
The collection of blood between the cartilage of the ear and the skin. When the ear lobe is repetitively struck or bent, a blood clot is formed under the skin, separating the skin from the underlying cartilage. (the ear swells up due to repetitively being hit.)
Swimmer’s ear
The inflammation, irritation, or infection of the outer ear and ear canal due to excessive water exposure. (swimmers are most likely to have this)
Tympanic Rupture
When the eardrum is ruptured or perforated. A ruptured eardrum is an opening or hold in the eardrum.
Epistaxis
Nasal (nose) bleeding of any cause
Cerebrospinal Fluid
Clear fluid that surronds the spinal cord and brain.
Cerebral Concussion
Mild traumatic brain injury when the patient is knocked unconscious.
Countrecoup
fracture opposite to the point of impact.
Retrograde Amnesia
Inability to recall events that occured just before an injury
Antegrade Amnesia
Inability to recall events tha have occured after an amnesia-inducing injury.
Postconcussion Syndrome
A common sequel of a traumatic brain injury (any symptoms)
Subdrual Hemetoma
Bleeding below the dura mater
Epidural Hematoma
Bleeding between the dura and the cranial bones
Intracranial Hematoma
a collection of clotted blood that forms inside the skull after an injury.
Secondary Impact Syndrome (SIS)
A condition in which an individual experiences a secondary head injury before recovering from a first one.
