- sold by Napoleon for $15 million, needed quick $ for his war
- Feds. didn’t want to buy it, would give more farmer land who would vote Democratic Republican
- Napoleon used as an HQ for food and easy travel to Haiti

- Hamilton took presidency and governorship away from Burr
- Burr wanted a duel, Hamilton shot in the air, Burr shot above hip, got away with murder
- Burr wanted to be the emperor of the Louisiana Purchase with Gen. Wilkinson
