chapter 9 & 10 Flashcards
This connects the acromion process to the lateral clavicle
Acroniclavicular (AC) joint
O=axillary border of scapula near inferior angle
I=crest below lesser tubercle next to latissimus dorsi attachment
A=shoulder extension, adduction, & ir
Teres major
O=spinous processe (c7-t5)
I=vertebral border between spine & inferior angle
A=scapukar retraction, elevation, & downward rotation
Rhomboid muscles
O=spinous process t7-l5 (via dorsolumbar fascia),
Posterior surface of sacrum, iliac crest &
Lower three ribs
I=medial lip of bicipital groove of humerus
A=shoulder extension, adductio , ir, & hyper extend
Latissimus dorsi
The first 30 degrees of joint is pure glenohumeral motion but after that for every 2 degrees of motion the scapula upwardly rotates 1 degree
Scapulohumeral rhythm
These allow elevation/depression, protraction/retraction, & upward/downward rotation
Sternoclavicular (SC) joints & acrominoclavicular joints
O=lateral surface of ribs 1-8
I=underneath scapula on vertebral border
A=scapular rotation & upward rotation
Serratus anterior
What is the insertion for the deltiod which is about 1/4 of thw way down the humerus?
Deltoid tuberosity
The large diamond shaped muscle which originates on the spine & has 3 subdivisions
Trapezius
The insertion of the subscapularis
Lesser tubercle
The insertion for the supraspinatus, infrapinatus, & teres minor
Greater tubercle
What is comprised of the shoukder girlde & joint
Shoulder complex
O=axillary border of scapula
I=greater tubercle of humerus
A=shoulder er, horizontal abduction
Teres minor
- Superior angle. 5. Spine
- Inferior angle. 6. Acromion process
- Vertebral border. 7. Glenoid fossa
- Axillary border. 8. Coracoid process
Landmarks of the scapula
The distal attachment
Insertion
Comprised of the scapula & clavicle
Shoulder girlde
Comprised of the scapula & humerus
Shoulder joint
O=infrapinatus fossa of scapula
I=greater tubercle of humerus
A=shoulder er, horizontal abduction
Infrapinatus
A thin walled, spacious container, that attaches around the rim of the glenoid fossa of the scapula & anatomical neck of the humerus
Joint capsule
The fibrous tissue surrounding the glenoid fossa which deepens the articular cavity for the humerus
Glenoid labrum
Ac joint, sc joint, glenohumeral joint, scapulothoracic joint, & intercostal joint
The joints that make up the shoulder complex
What is the only direct attachment to the trunk
Sternoclavicular (sc) joint
O=spinous processes of middle/lower thoracic
Vertebrae
I=base of scapular spine
A=1 degree scapular depression, upward roation
Lower trapezius
O=anterior surface of ribs 3-5
I=coracoid process of scapula
A=scapular depression, protraction, downwrd rotate
Pectoralis minor
O=clavicular part-medial 1/3 clavicle
Sternal part- sternum, costal cartilage ribs 1-6
I=lateral lip bicipital groove
A=clavicle part-shoulder flexion ~90 degrees
Sternal part-shoulder extend ~90 degrees
Together-shoulder adduction, mr, horizontal
Adduction
Pectoralis major
Insertion site for the latissimus dorsi, teres major, & pectoralis major
Bicipital groove
O=occipital bone & nuchal ligament
I=outer 3rd of clavicle & acromion process
A=1 degree scapular elevation, upward rotation
Upper trapezius
O=tranverse processes c1-c4
I=vertebral border between superior angle & spine
A=scapular elevation & downward roation
Levator scaplua
O=spinous process c7-t3
I=scapular spine
A=scapular retraction
Middle trapezius
What is the proximal attachment
Origin
This attaches indirectly to the ribcage. Located between the 2nd and 7th rib
Scapula
Occurs only when muscle crosses a joint
Motion
Shallow egg-shaped hole for the humeral head
Glenoid fossa
O=anterior-lateral 1/3 of clavicle Middle-acromion process Posterior-spine of scapula I=deltoid tuberosity A=anterior-flex,mr,horizontal abd/add Middle-abd Posterior-extend,lr,horizontal abd/add
Deltoid
O=subscapular fossa
I=lesser tubercle if humerus
A=shoulder ir
Subscapularis
Made up of the scapula & humerus
Glenohumeral joint
O=coracoid process of scapula
I=medial surface of humerus
A=shoulder joint stabilization
Coracobrachialis
The inferior angle is the point of reference for rotation
Scapular rotation
O=supraspinous fossa of the scapula
I=greater tuberosity of humerus
A=shoulder abduction
Supraspinatus
A tendinous band made by the insertion of supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, subscapularis
Rotator cuff
