With medications
What is it important that a patient maintains “Compliance” with the treatment regimen?
So they can heal from their disease.
What means Compliance?
Refers to the extent to which follows his doctor’s advice and takes prescribed medication correctly.
When a patient fails to take the medication is called?
Noncompliant.
What are Anticoagulants?
Also called “blood thinners” these drugs slow coagulation of the blood and prevent new clots from forming.
What are Antiarrhythmics?
These drugs are used to suppress abnormal rhythms of the heart.
What are Antihypertensives?
This class of drugs is used to treat hypertension.
What are Cholesterol-lowering drugs?
These drugs reduce the undesirable cholesterol levels in the blood.
What are Diuretics?
Also called “water pills” these drugs treat hypertension and heart failure by increasing the excretion of water from the body.
What are Thrombolytic?
Drugs such as tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and streptokinase are administered to some patients having a heart attack or stroke to dissolve clots quickly and restore blood flow.
