Chapter 7: Lobe Labels and Stuff (1/26) Flashcards
Central Sulcus
Divides frontal lobe from parietal lobe
Lateral (sylvian) sulcus
Divides temporal lobe from rest of cerebellum
Parieto-occipital sulcus
Divides parietal from occipital lobe, or more accurately, separates cuneus from precuneus.
Preoccipital notch
indentation that we can use as a landmark to divide occipital lobe from temporal lobe
Precentral gyrus
movement (primary motor cortex)
What is about 85% of total brain weight?
Telencephalon
Inferior Frontal Gyrus
Frontal Lobe
Made of the Pars Opercularis/Pars Triangularis. Broca’s area is made of up of these two ‘Pars’, if injured broca’s aphasia occurs and the person can’t talk, where mouth movements are.
Cingulate Sulcus
Frontal Lobe
What divides the frontal lobe from limbic lobe
Callosal Sulcus
Frontal lobe-ish area
Divides the limbic lobe from the corpus callosum
Cingulate gyrus
Limbic Lobe, continues into parahippocampal gyrus
Function: Memory recall and Fear Processing
Corpus Callosum
Wraps around thalamus and subcortico structures
Where are the Orbital Gyri located?
Frontal Lobe
Olfactory sulcus: where is it?
Frontal Lobe; where olfactory bulbs sit
Gyrus Rectus
Frontal Lobe, Where a lot of social interaction understanding goes on
Postcentral gyrus
Parietal Lobe
Somatosensory
Posterior Paracentral Lobule
Parietal Lobe
Primary Somatosensory cortex
Parietal Lobe
Intraparietal sulcus
Runs through the Parietal Lobe. Where a lot of neurophysiologist target to record stuff.
