bully pulpit

Cabinet
D: the committee of senior ministers responsible for controlling government policy.

executive agreements
D: an international agreement, usually regarding routine administrative matters not warranting a formal treaty, made by the executive branch of the US government without ratification by the Senate.
S: Although it was informal, an executive agreement was needed for immediate action.
Executive Office of the President (EOP)
D: Central, highest power of the Executive branch.
S: The Executive Office of the President is elected every four years.
executive order
D: a rule or order issued by the president to an executive branch of the government and having the force of law.
S: The president felt it was necessary to give executive order to push his agenda.
executive privilege
D: the privilege, claimed by the president for the executive branch of the US government, of withholding information in the public interest.
S: It was included in his executive privilege that the president could without this information from the public.
first lady
D: the wife of the president of the US
S: The first lady was teary eyed when her husband completed his inauguration.
inherent powers
D: although not specified in the Constitution, they are reasonable powers that are a logical part of the powers delegated to Congress and the president.
S: It was due to his inherent power that the president could issue an executive order.
League of Nations
D: an international organization established after World War I under the provisions of the Treaty of Versailles.
S: The League of Nations, brought about much international cooperation on health, labor problems, refugee affairs, and the like.

D: the business division of the Executive Office of the President of the United States that administers the United States federal budget

D: a remission of the legal consequences of an offense or conviction

D: the elected head of a republican state.
S: The president gave an acceptance speech shortly after he won the election.
Presidential Succession Act
D: a federal statute establishing the presidential line of succession
S: According to the Presidential Succession Act, the Vice President takes the Presidential position if his president dies.
signing statements
D: a written pronouncement issued by the President of the United States upon the signing of a bill into law.
S: After the bill was turned into a law, the signing statement was issued by the president.
Twenty-Fifth Amendment
D: establishes what happens in the event of the president’s death or resignation.
S: It was due to the Twenty-Fifth Amendment that after Nixon’s resignation, his vice president, Gerald Ford, filled his seat.
