What is a Project Activity List?
A list of tasks needed to complete each work package of the project
What is the Project Schedule?
The timing for each activity in the Activity List
What is the Project Schedule based on?
- the required sequence of work
- the completion of activities on a certain date
- the duration of time the activity will take
What is a Network Diagram?
A useful tool for displaying the logical order of activities
- rectangles define tasks, arrows connect tasks in order of completion
What are the three main types of Project Schedules?
- milestone based
- activity based
- dependency based
What is a Milestone based Schedule?
Each milestone is given with the date it should be completed by
- sorted in chronological order
What is an Activity Based Schedule?
Each activity is given with a duration, start date and end date
- sorted in chronological order
- can be shown with activities under categories such as “To Do”, “Doing”, and “Done”
What is a Dependency Based Schedule?
A Gantt Char
- tasks are shown on a timeline for their duration
- tasks are connected depending on which tasks need to be done first
What is Finish to Start Dependencies?
Task 1 needs to be finished before starting task 2
What is Start to Start Dependencies?
Task 1 and task 2 can be started at the same time
What is Finish to Finish Dependencies?
Task 1 and Task 2 must end at the same time
What is Dependency Lead?
Task 2 can start a set of time before (lead) task 1 ends
What is Dependency Lag?
Task 2 can start a set of time after (lag) task 1 ends
What is Critical Path?
The longest sequence of activities in a project
- this is the earliest the project can be completed
What is Total Float?
The amount of time an activity can be delayed before it delays the project end date
