Chapter 17 - An Overview of Agile Project Management Flashcards
What is Agile Project Management
Style of PM that consists of SPRINTS, which is the repetition of fixed time periods.
What are the 3 key roles that make up the SCRUM TEAM?
1) Product Owner
2) Development Team
3) Scrum Master
What happens during SPRINT Planning Meeting?
The items from the Product Backlog are selected and a plan is developed to complete the work.
What happens during DEVELOPMENT?
The work is completed. Daily “stand-up” meetings take place at the same time each day for no more than 15 min
What happens during SPRINT REVIEW?
The finished product of the spring is presented to stakeholders.
What happens during SPRINT RETROSPECTIVE?
The process of the sprint is reviewe in order to determine possible improvements
Who has the most control in traditional project management vs. agile project management settings
Traditional => project manager and project sponsor
Agile => development team
Between Traditional and Agile PM, which one is predictive and which one is adaptive?
Traditional => Predictive. During planning you decide the scope, schedule, and budget for ENTIRE project.
Agile => Adaptive. The content of each Sprint is planned in detail and then SUBSEQUENT sprints adapt to new input and information
What do the team members look like for Traditional vs. Agile
Traditional => Team members can be removed from project as needed, can work from different locations, and can be separated into different groups based on skill set
Agile => Team members are typically dedicated full-time to a project, work from the same location, and typically have cross-functional skills
What is important for both Traditional and Agile?
The effective practice of QUALITY, RISK, and STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
For what projects would you prefer traditional?
When there is a need to define project requirements, timeline, and budget in contract.
What is Daily Stand-Up Meeting (also known as Daily Scrum)
A daily 15-minute meeting during which the current progress of the Sprint is reviewed. NOT FOR SOLVING DETAILED PROBLEMS, more for current state of progress
What is the Development Team?
The team members responsible for completing the work of each Sprint
What is Product Backlog?
The list of all potential items to be developed during the project.
What is Product Increment?
The updated version of whatever is being produced by the project. It is a tested, working version of the product that could be released to the customer
