Chapter 16 - Closing the Project Flashcards
What gets transferred during closing phase, and where?
The product, service, or results are transferred to the OPERATIONS of organization
The results of the project should be…
…summarized and reported.
All project-related documentation should be…
…archived for possible future references.
The project’s performance should be…
…reviewed in order to document the lessons learned for future projects.
What is the Final Project Report?
A closing document that contains a summary of the results of the project.
What is the Lessons Learned Report?
A closing document that summarizes the experiences of the project, including what went well, what didn’t, and what to do differently next time.
Why does the Closing Phase receive insufficient attention?
Because focus shifts to new projects. Should be avoided to ensure project ends effectively.
What is reviewed during closing phase?
The results to determined the actual costs and whether the benefits were achieved.
Why is measuring the benefits challenging?
Because they are often not known until much later in the future.
Who should be involved in “lessons learned” collection?
Many project team members and stakeholders
What should be ensured when documenting Lessons Learned?
That it is a review of success and opportunities for improvement, NOT a discussion of performance issues and blame.
What does a Lessons Learned report contain?
1) What went well
2) What did not go well
3) What should be done differently next time AND how it will be achieved.
