Chapter 5 Injuries To The Skin Flashcards

1
Q

What are the steps of inflammation (3 steps)

A

The injured cells release an sos through inflammatory chemicals that can be sensed by other cells. Attach to blood vessel

The blood vessel dilated and bring more nutrient filled blood and makes it redder (dilation of blood vessels)

Swelling is cause by inflammatory chemicals that causes the blood vessel to create tiny holes. These hole allow water to leak out and rush past damage area. Luekocytes squeeze out holes and go outside blood vessel to attack the pathogens ( phagocytosis)

Pain- the chemicals also irritate nerves and cause pain. Nerves rely the information to the brain and tells the brain it hurts and to keep the area immobile so it can hea

Q

Repair process steps

A

Blood vessels regrow and leukocytes consume debris and pathogens to clear area for fibroblasts

Fibroblast produce college. That sews the wound together

Epithelial cells multiply and fill in wound. If epithelial cells can’t grow over wound. The dermis is visible and the colleges forms the lighter scar

Q

Bedsore

A

Typical of immobile patients in bed

Pressure builds up I. Areas that aren’t being moved. The blood vessels become comptrssed and nutrients ya can get there. The epithelial cells go then dermis and hypodermics till home gets deeper
