Health and safety commission
the role is to ensure risk in the workplace is properly controlled across the u.k.
Health and Safety Executive
responsible for the regulation of risk in organisations such as nuclear installations, factories, farms, hospitals and schools, gas and oil installations and the movement of dangerous goods
Equality policy
a policy to ensure fair and consistent treatment of all employees ao that they are not discriminated against, bullied or harassed on the ground of sex, race, sexual orientation.
Minimum wage act 1999
lays down the minimum level of pay to which employees aged 18and over in the UK are entitled
Working Time Directive
Employees cannot work more than 48 hours a week
Redundancy
When the job that used to be performed no longer exists and so the employee is surplus to requirements
Unfair Dismissal
Where an employee is dismissed without a valid reason or the employee fails to follow the proper procedures
Dismissal
Only can be dismissed for
- gross misconduct
- gross negligence
Wrongful dismissal
When there has been a breach of the employment contract in the procedure of dismissal
Employment tribunal
A special sort of court dealing only with employment law
Termination of employment
An employees contract of employment is ended due to redundancy
