A

Or it is used with a noun to denote an instrument. Məsələn: O bu eynəklə yaxşı oxuyur. He reads well with these glasses.

Expressing the exact time of an action

A

To express at what exact time an action takes place the words işləmiş (worked) and qalmış (left) are used instead of işləyir and qalır. Məsələn:

Saat 1-ə 25 dəqiqə işləmiş nahar edirəm.
I eat lunch at 12:25.
Saat 8-ə 15 dəqiqə qalmış məktəbə gedirik.
We go to school at 7:45.
Saat 11-ə 5 dəqiqə qalmış yatıram.
I go to bed at 10:55.

Expressing duration of time

A

To express how long an event or action lasts, an increment of time, such as iki saat two hours or iyirmi dəqiqə twenty minutes, comes right before the verb to which it refers. Məsələn: Dərsimiz 50 dəqiqə olur. Our class is/lasts 50 minutes.

To express till/up to what time an event or action occurs/lasts, the postposition qədər until, comes right after the time phrase in Dative case and right before the verb to which it refers.
Məsələn: Dərsimiz saat 11-də başlayır və 12-yə 10 dəqiqə qalmışa qədər davam edir. Our class starts at 11 o’clock and lasts till 10 minutes to 12.

A

‘both … and…
The conjunction həm…, həm də… ‘both … and…, combines words, phrases, and clauses.

A

The postposition üçün for can be used to express possession when used with personal pronouns (mənim, sənin, onun, bizim, sizin, onlar). Məsələn:

Bu biletlər mənim üçündür.
These tickets are for me.
Bu biletlər bizim üçündür.

Bu biletlər sənin üçündür.
These tickets are for you.
Bu biletlər sizin üçündür.

Conjugate verbs in the present tense using the following structure:
Verb stem + simple tense marker + subject marker

Verb stem is the verb without the infinitive marker -maq or -mək.
The present tense marker is -ır (4 way vowel harmony)
Subject markers are similar to the subject marker endings for olmaq

A

Xoşlamaq is used to express likes and dislikes.

Expressing plans to do something with istəmək (to want)

A

Use istəmək in the infinitive to express when you üant or don’t want to do something.

Sabah üzmək istəyirəm. I want to swim tomorrow.
Bizə getmək istəyirsən? Do you want to go to our place?
Bu axşam o, dərs oxumaq istəmir. He doesn’t want to study tonight.

A

(Lit: 5 minutes have worked towards 9 o’clock.)
