What is Urinary Incontinence?
The loss of bladder control.
Is Urinary Incontinence a part of getting older?
No.
Incontinence can be caused by what?
By damage to the nerves that control the bladder from diseases such as diabetes or Parkinson’s.
Other than diseases, what causes Incontinence?
Medications. Weak pelvic floor muscles that hold the bladder in place, blockage from an enlarged prostate or problems with the brain due to a stroke or dementia.
What are the 3 most common types of Urine Leakage?
Stress Incontinence, Urge Incontinence and Overflow Incontinence.
Urge Incontinence is also called?
Overactive Bladder.
Stress Incontinence is a result from what?
From an increase in intra-abdominal pressure when coughing, laughing, sneezing, lifting or exercising.
What can cause Stress Incontinence?
Physical changes from childbirth and menopause.
When does Urge Incontinence occurs?
Immediately after an urgent need to void and the inability to find a bathroom quickly.
Urge Incontinente is caused by what?
By inappropriate bladder contractions or abnormal nerve signals causing bladder spasms.
What is Overflow incontinence?
Is dribbling of urine from an overly full bladder.
When does Overflow Incontinence happen?
When the bladder does not empty properly.
