The Urinary Tract consist of?
Two kidneys, two ureters, one urinary bladder and urethra.
What are the kidneys?
A pair of bean-shaped organs.
Where are the kidneys located?
Against the back muscles of the upper abdominal cavity.
What does the kidneys do?
They filter metabolic wastes and chemicals from the blood to form urine.
What is the area at the center of the kidney called?
Renal Pelvis.
What does Renal Pelvis do?
Collects urine and is funneled into the ureter.
What are Ureters?
A pair of tubes on the left and right sides of the body that connect the kidney to the urinary bladder.
What moves the urine through the ureters.
Gravity and peristalsis.
What is the Urinary bladder?
Is a hollow organ used for the storage of urine.
What is the Urethra?
A tube through which urine passes from the bladder to the outside of the body.
Is the Urethra only part of the female body?
No, is also an organ of the male reproductive system as it also carries sperm out of the body.
