What is Ablation?
The removal of a body part or the destruction of its function.
How Ablation can be done or could happen?
By surgery, hormones, drugs, heat, chemical destruction, electrocautery or other methods.
What is Anuria?
The absence of urine formation by the kidneys.
What is Catheterization in the Urinary System?
The passage of a catheter into the bladder to withdraw urine or to place therapeutic fluid into the bladder.
What is Diuresis?
The increased output of urine.
What is Enuresis?
The involuntary discharge of urine.
What is Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy?
The destruction of the stones with the use of high-energy ultrasonic waves traveling through water or gel.
What is Hemodialysis?
Replaces kidney function by filtering waste products directly from the patient’s blood.
What is Hydroureter?
The stretching out of the ureter with urine.
How is Hydrouerter caused?
Is caused by a blockage in the ureter that does not allow the urine to flow normally.
What is Intravenous Pyelogram?
A diagnostic radiographic study of the kidneys and ureters, with the use of a contrast medium is administered intravenously.
What is Nephrolith?
A stone located in the kidney.
What is Nephrolysis?
The freeing of a kidney from adhesions.
What is Nephroptosis?
The prolapse or downward displacement of a kidney.
What is Nephropyosis?
The formation or discharge of pus from the kidney.
