Chapter 39- Cardiopulmonary Procedures Flashcards
What is the number one disease in the United States?
Heart disease
Isoelectric line-
Straight line representing a period of time with no electrical activity (baseline)
Deflection-
Any movement away from the baseline
Wave-
Deflection from the baseline
Complex-
Form made up of many waves
Segment-
Part of a line between two points
Interval-
Period of time between two points or events
P wave-
First selection in the tracing
PR Segment-
Appears as an isoelectric line
QRS complex:
Impulse moves from the AV node through the remaining conduction system structures.
ST Segment-
Ends at start of the T wave
U wave-
In many cases not seen
PR interval:
Starts at the beginning of the P wave: ends at the start of the Q wave
QT interval-
Starts at the beginning of the Q wave, extend to end of the T wave
- atrial chambers move from repolarization to a polarized state
- ventricular chambers depolarize and then move into the repolarized state.
