Full faith & Credit

Extradition
The process of one state surrendering an individual to another state for committing a crime or suspected to.
Privileges & Immunities
The provision of the Constitution allowing citizens of each state the privileges of citizens of other states.
Dual Federalism
A system of government where both the federal and local/state government remain supreme.
Cooperative Federalism
A system of government where policies and powers assignments are shared between the state national government.
Fiscal Federalism
The pattern of spending, taxing and providing grants in the federal system.
Categorial Grants
Federal grants that can be used for specific purposes or “categories” for the state and local spending.
Project Grants
A categorial grant given for specific purposes and awarded on the basis of merits and applications.
Formula grants
A categorial grant distributed according to a formula specified in legislation or in administrative regulations.
Block Grants
Federal grants given more or less automatically to state or communities to support programs.
Devolution
Transferring the responsibilities for policies from federal government to state and local government.
