A
- staying because you want to

- often connected to relationship of others
e.g. working at non-profit climate change and you feel strongly about climate change

- staying because you need to
- desire to stay due to cost of leaving
- doesn’t help performance - you just do the minimum
e.g. just bought a house and had a kid and need money

- somewhat better performance
- investment in / commitment out
